Skateboarding isn't just a hobby; it's a skill that not many humans possess, let alone cats. However, Bao Zi, an American Shorthair from China, skates like a pro and has just earned the title of one of the fastest skateboarding cats in the world. He now holds the Guinness World Record for the 'Fastest 10 Meters on a Skateboard by a Cat,' completing the distance in just 12.85 seconds.
"In the brief video, Bao Zi showcases his impressive skills without any assistance from his human or trainer, Li Jiangtao, as he breaks the record. The one-year-old cat effortlessly hops on the skateboard, propels himself forward, and glides to victory while his adoring fans cheer him on. Move over, Tony Hawk!
Jiangtao is an accomplished trainer who initially taught his dog to skateboard. However, Bao Zi didn’t want his canine sibling to have all the fun and soon learned to skate as well. Bao Zi's talents extend beyond the skatepark—he can also perform various tricks, including:
- Sitting
- Shaking paws
- Playing dead
- Rolling over
- Jumping
- Climbing
- Going through hoops
- Pressing doorbells
- Pushing rolling barrels
- Dribbling a basketball

If you’ve ever envied your friends’ talented dogs and their impressive array of tricks, there’s no need to feel left out. Cats, whether they aspire to break a Guinness World Record or not, can be quite trainable when they have a patient and understanding owner.
With the right approach—and of course, some tasty treats—you can teach your cat to perform tricks like giving a high five, sitting, or coming when called in no time. No skateboard necessary!
Training your cat is also a fantastic way to bond, especially if they are a new addition to your home. Plus, it provides mental stimulation and helps keep your feline friend from getting bored or acting out.
